Yep, leave him at full-back. The defence performs better then. Him and Pau has never been a strong partnership - neither of them is good enough in the air, neither of them is an organiser or leader.

As I’ve been saying forever, Konsa needs Mings, Pau needs a right-sided Mings equivalent. In the absence of one of those in central defence, we need to play with three centre-backs on the pitch - hence Konsa on the right - against the top teams.

The Cash/Konsa/Pau combo has proved adequate against the flotsam and jetsam.

Its how I see it. Playing Cash exposes Konsa and Pau, most the time Carlos with Konsa at RB is ok but you are never quite sure with what you are getting with Carlos.
A better RB than Cash would help enormously.

Cash is having a solid season, maybe his best for us. He isn't exposing anyone defensively these days. We are exposed when he isn't fit, relegation fodder like Soton excepted. Bogarde is nowhere near PL standard and obviously Emery doesn't think Kosta is either.

You just can't rely on Carlos. Soton, strikerless Juve, Hibs, Arsenal, Man City, Everton, Sheff Utd, Wolves, Mostar, Ajax, Arsenal, Man Utd, Young Boys, ,Bayern Munich, Bologna, he has been ok. Spurs, Ipswich, Brugge, Palace (cup), Liverpool, captain chaos, Konsa appalling at RB in those games too.... That Liverpool game sums up Carlos, was playing really well and then an inexplicable error finishes the game for us. He's always liable to do something mad like that.

If we assume Mings will have to come in for the Forest game, will be interesting to see who plays tomorrow night.

If we are talking Carlos, on Saturday he looked world class at times, his defending and the long ball that led to the goal, he also showed a surprising turn of pace. But then he gave a few hospital passes out of defence that led to Southampton attacks.

Goals conceded is 50% of a football result. Goals scored is the other half, in case you were wondering.

Whilst that is obviously true, sometimes it may be necessary to be more susceptible to conceding, to allow us to be more dangerous at the other end.

Doesn’t our best back four depend entirely on our overall game plan.

I feel like he really 'gets' us, but I don't pay much attention to football outside of us, so is his rapport with the fans genuine, or just something he does as standard wherever he is?

Probably well-meaning but players and managers praise their fans at every club - usually by a spoon-fed question like tonight's was.

In fairness, he's posted stuff on Instagram from night games at VP, a couple of hours afterwards when we've won and he's relaxing, waxing lyrical about the place and that does seem genuine.

Well we had a very sticky patch through the late Autumn, form and results both being poor, but what a difference 3 wins on the bounce makes.

Hopefully the players are buzzing this morning (I know I am!), and this gives them the confidence and belief to go on a cracking season defining run.
