I love Unai and wouldn't swap him for anyone but .....
and that's how it starts. Let's hope we are not back to this post in six months time look for where it has all gone wrong. :'(

Its clear for me that unai must start kamara in the next league game. Our back four needs protection.  Having him sit there and help allows other players to get forward a bit more. I think we need to get rogers off the role behind ollie its not working.

Wasnt he playing on the left last season? Maybe we can go back to that and maybe have to try play someone else behind the striker.  I know buendia hasnt been great but he did play there before the injury from what i remember a few times and he was decent there

After yesterday I think it’s just fine margins and there is no need for surgery, just for Unai to get them to believe again.  I’m sure Doug and Diaby would have  helped but other teams had to sell their prize assets too including the richest club in the world  (unless your turnover or ability to cheat meant you didn’t have to).

This is Unai’s first ever 4 loss run so I’m pretty sure it will just make him even more determined not to let it happen again….

Has anyone got any idea why we don't play a high line any more?

I think its because our teams become slower and if a player with pace gets in behind our high line we are stuffed. Either that or unai just felt we got found put towards end of last season

Our back 4 has been the same as last season. How has it become slower?

Its not just the back four if you look back alot of last season we also had diaby coming back and helping get back when we pushed up. We lose alot of that now as a majority of the team is nowhere near as quick as he is.

Injuries mainly I would guess. We have only played three times in the league this season with the same defense. Unai maybe thinks it is a bit risky to expect players coming back from injury to be fully up to speed and play the high line.

This season we're behind our xG and xPts. Last season we were ahead and this season we're behind and therefore not as clinical/lucky.

Luckily for Unai, there are three very winnable games out of the next 4, starting with Palace at home. Don't think we'll get anything away at Chelsea, but then it's Brentford and Southampton at home, and it really should be 9 points from 12, which would put us on 27 points from 15 games. That should be enough to keep us around the top 6. Less than that, and I think we're in for a mediocre season, League-wise.

If nothing has changed with the back 4 and our xG/xPts are down then we might be missing Dougie more than we'd like to think.

Our form so far this season is very similar to the back end of last season, when Luiz was playing.

This 100%. We aren't as solid as we were in 2023. Luck/fortune also plays a part. Watkins scores against Spurs and Bournemouth's free kick goes out for a goal kick and the last few weeks look very different. It will even itself out over the season, so taking 4 games in isolation is dangerous.

But then again, if Soucek puts his easy chance away, or Fulham score their penalty, it looks different the other way. I'm sure all the other PL teams have got similar stories. We've got the points we deserve, and unless Unai sorts the defence out and we stop leaking goals in just about every game, we''ll be looking more midtable than top 4 again.
