…Anyway, I think Emi can play in any of the three positions behind the striker so should get plenty of minutes.

Emery should be able to completely rest Ramsey/Rogers for some games by bringing Emi on instead.  If he steps up, then we’ll have a proper dilemma.

I'm not sure it's about him 'stepping up' more than just reproducing what he was before the injury.

I think he needs to step up. Or if that's a bit harsh, at least cut out the number of wayward passes he used to make. He's capable of being excellent, but then a minute later, passing the ball straight out for a throw in. The good thing is we've got a fair bit of competition for his role now, so if he can cut out the slack passes, then great. I think the issue is more likely that he might not want to stick around to be a bit part player.

He lacks patience and concentration, unless he is able to change his game he wont play a lot as he gives the ball away too much.

For now he remains a great option off the bench to unlock tiring defences, a bit like Durán.

I think we should judge him on his return not on the player he was 18 months ago. Let's give the lad a chance.

He played in basically every match under Emery before he was injured so not sure this is how he sees it

True, but we didn't have many options unlike now. I think he was upgraded with Diaby, and subsequently Rogers, but we have a lot of games so hell get his chance.

His form in the pre-season before that injury was brilliant, that's what I was getting at.

I really can't see Emery tolerating him giving the ball away a lot, though he does have the undoubted ability to make a clever pass. Now, with the other players around him,  and the type of football we're playing, he could really flourish.

I think it'll depend on both how he continues to recover from his injury and whether we get many injuries in his area of the pitch as to how much game time he gets but he's got the ability to play, even where we are currently.

I felt both Emi and Jadon were a bit lacking after coming on. Partly due to the speed of play and partly because of the re-jig of the other players caused some confusion.

Agreed. Buendia got caught in possession once, going a bit too slowly. Just a bit rusty though after more than a year out I expect. Philogene looked like he was trying too hard when he came on, and I think that's the only sub Unai maybe got a little bit wrong.

Buendia played against league two Fleetwood and scored twice.
Playing tonight against Wycombe will be a good game for him toexperience. It's super to have him back as an option.
