Just for clarity we actually paid around £13m for him so using the same maths and sales amount we're going to get around 10m profit on him, which would pretty much cover the first year costs of Malen and the Spanish right back we've been linked to.
Is that net of the 30% discount/sell-on?

Also to be noted that in addition to the £10m profit on the current deal, we’d already booked £5m on him the year before.

We will have already banked that on lowering his fee so we'll have had him on the books as costing £12.5m-ish. knock a little over £1m off for the 6months he was here and anything over that is PSR profits, so around £10m if the fee being reported is correct.

If he does go I'd guess it means Barry either only goes out on another loan or maybe even stays until the summer. We can't sign anyone to replace Jaden in the CL squad so we'd still be looking at someone else going out to create room and then Barry, if they think he's worth a look, fills a club-trained spot.

Feels a bit April Fools Day.  Great deal for Villa if it goes through.

He's shown nothing this season, bar the Bayern game when he put in a hardworking effort (albeit without any actual attacking threat).

To get this sort of fee for him is excellent work.

That's my view too, but others may disagree e.g.

Quote from: RAWK
He’s played 300 minutes and been put at full back for some of those, he’s a wide forward or winger. I agree he’s been poor at Villa, but I saw enough at Stoke and Hull to be confident that this lad becomes an international-standard player. LFC quality? Unsure, but certainly he should develop to make Villa regret selling

Still, almost £100m for him, Azzaz, Archer, Chukwuemeka, middle Ramsey and Kellyman in the last couple of years is decent going. No sellers remorse yet although Finn is the one we let go cheap. I think he only had a few months left on his deal, hopefully we've included a sell-on.
Azzaz is the one I look back on with a hint of regret. An asset to every team he played for, at every level, and comes across as a decent bloke.

I agree with that, he's looked a very good player, always improving, a good footballing brain, given the breaks and a fair wind he could be playing at PL level, in my view.

I reckon Azaz will be a premier league player within 18 months and I think we sold him far too cheaply.

I was gutted when we sold Archer , I'm ok with this One.
The figure seems skewed and I'm sure there's some jiggery pokery in the background (see Kellyman £20m) . We'll probably end up with another +£30M LB as part of the deal .

Jaden Philogene completed medical tests at Ipswich Town today.

Ipswich Town and Aston Villa, due to exchange final documents in order to sign all contracts for the permanent move.
