Philogene is a strange one.

He has looked like an actual different player to what I expected. His best game for us was a disciplined, defensive performance whereas I thought he was going to be a silky, pacey, attacking threat.

It's the hesitation in trying to attack a player that has surprised me, he's looked more like a right back being asked to play in attack.

Yes. He's been nothing like the clips we all saw a year ago.

I think he think he could yet make it elsewhere. There is a player there. We haven't seen it, for whatever reason

I agree it’s almost like he’s been told to play with in himself.  Maybe he just doesn’t suit Unai’s plans

Think his confidence has further decreased every time he has featured so far.  It looked completely shot in his last outing, to the point where he just didn't look like he knew what to do when he had the ball.

Im ok with him leaving to be honest. He has bewn dreadful most of the season tbh.

If we get what we paid its a good deal for us and helps with FFP

Hope Everton don’t get the better of us again. We need to get top dollar to make up for overpaying on Dobbin and Onana.

If he works under Dyche then his career will go backwards.  He’s got a chance if it’s under Potter.

Dont think either deal has been that successful tbh. Timmys been injured and dobbins flopped at west brom

And neither us nor Everton have been subject to (at time of writing) a points deduction for breaching PSR limits. So both deals did exactly what they were supposed to.

If he is sold rather than loaned, it will one the shorter Villa careers. I can't think of many that have signed and left same season. Unsworth is the obvious one, Paul Mortimer under big Ron. Struggling to think of any more.

But Tim was a big success for them before getting injured whereas Dobbin …

And we overpaid for Onana.

Everton definitely got the better of us on those deals.

Big success is misleading, he was starting in a position where they had a few injuries and lost his place as they got those players back. I like Tim and think he'd have been worth keeping around but some of the posts on here are making it sound like we made a Man City with palmer/rogers level mistake in letting him go.

Onana is 23 and signed a 5 year deal and he's made 18 appearances in less than 6 months despite a couple of injuries, lets not write him off as not worth the money so quickly, especially given our best performances this season were when he was starting regularly in the first 6-7weeks.

Tim started 6 games for Everton and then got injured. I don’t think he did lose his place.

Lewis Dobbin has never played a minute for Villa and only managed to start one game for west brom!

I don’t think it’s a stretch to suggest Everton got the better of that deal. The transfer fee was reportedly about the same for both players

Onana was a club record £50 million buy. He may come good and he hasn’t been bad bat all but again I don’t think it’s a stretch to say his impact has been limited as have his appearances.

Add to those deals, the Luiz transfer  to Juventus and the money and players we got in return and it’s starting to look like we aren’t the best at negotiating deals.

The deals bewteen Dobbin and Iroegbunam were probably done to help the books. £10 million of pure profit for both clubs from an accounting sense adds up.

Exactly. They were. Everton got their accounts and squad boosted whereas we just got our accounts done.
