Is it me or does this site have some bizarre posts sometimes.
Throw the competition we fought so hard to qualify for, and put the 5th place spot in jeopardy by just not bothering while we're in it?

Emery himself has said similar though. The Premier League is very much his priority.

I'd imagine Unai means success in the PL equals winning lots of games, a wonderful habit to have especially when you have additional European games. That success is much easier to pass over to CL games rather than the other way round, a problem we are currently facing.

As the great Shaq 'Aristotle' O'Neal said, "Excellence is not a singular act but a habit. You are what you do repeatedly."

I do wonder if he is struggling to adapt to the tactical discipline that Unai demands. He looked a genuinely exciting attacking threat last season but we really haven’t seen anything of that..

Weird thing is that against bayern was his best match and that was mostly due to discipline and tactical nous, the part he seems to be struggling most with is beating a man, holding on to the ball and progressive passing

His Bayern performance was very good indeed, but I don’t think we should discount the impact of having had Konsa behind him, and because they had most of the possession Jaden was rarely more than 10 yards in front of Ezra - which means the communication behind him will have been loud, clear and often. That will have helped enormously on the tactical front.
He was switched twice inthe match so did not have Konsa behind him the whole game.

I think he mostly played on the left at Hull so being the Bailey alternative on the right is not the easiest position to re-learn his trade.

He played 14 games for them on the left of midfield, and 10 on the right, so not much of a difference.

Going to Ipswich would've been a far better move for him at this stage of his career.

He is not of the level we're currently at I'm sorry to say and not everyone we sign from the lower leagues will make a Rogers type impact (and he's struggling himself now).

Selling Diaby who'd played endless seasons at top level and in Europe we need to sign a similar player of that ilk, surely finances could've meant we got someone like that in as we did sell 100m + worth of players this summer.

I wish we let that happen. Honestly would have been a bullet dodged. He is pants

I’ve seen some poor players in my time, mainly around 2016, and he’s up there with the very worst.

Takes him 10 seconds to think about what he's going to do with the ball.  By that time, he's rolling around the floor looking like the Championship player he is.  Waste of money, waste of a shirt.  When we are not playing well and are in a rut, you cannot carry players.  He got 65 minutes today.  Jeez!

Not his fault... Think Emery thought he could do a defensive job like against Bayern and then perhaps swap him for Bailey in the 2nd half and be more offensive. In any event if we can't buy something better in Jan recall Iling Junior and loan Philogene back to Hull with a view to him putting in some good performances and Villa getting their money back in Summer by selling.
