I think he played a mix of both, but not 100%.

Philogene is not a winger
Just a guy that won’t take any one on.

He has flopped so far. One good game against bayern, but most other games has had offered virtually nothing

He did contribute something yesterday (run and cross, which is what we want from the wide men, isn't it?), which other than against Bayern and United, he had failed to do in the other games.

So I'm inclined to be encouraged (and to encourage him).

He has been below expectations overall, you're right to say that. But yesterday was a slight improvement (which may not be enough, or not good enough, of course, but that is another question).

I must have missed that mate.  I think it was always a big ask to have philiogene replace diaby. The step up from championship to premier league is huge and he is struggling.

I really want it to work out for the lad but at the moment not many things seem to be going right for u 😔

Am sure we are all appreciating that.

Worth noting as we make eyes to Louie Barry...

Absolutely. Different divisions, of course, but one player is bursting with confidence, the other drained of the same.

Yes, as was Philogene this time last year.

Whilst I'm not convinced he is a PL player, he certainly isn't the only one playing at half mast compared to last season.

I just don't understand why he's not even trying to beat people. I'd rather he had some youthful exuberance, even if it doesn't always come off. What's the point of a winger who doesn't wing?

I think you'd need to ask Emery that. I suspect he wants us to keep the ball rather than take the risk.

Seems a bit odd if true. Bailey's doing absolutely nothing positive of note. No goals, hardly ever beats a man and not much in the way of assists either. So let's sling on Jaden, and ask him to do exactly the same.

I agree. It does seem odd, unless his confidence is shot, but then that surely can't be everyone!

He didnt really take players on vs munich though either, but his performance was superb. I really did think he would kick on after that. But he has unfortunately been prett bad since then. It could be confidence  but i think he is struggling in a side short of confidence at the moment

One swallow does not a summer make, but he did take on (and beat) his defender last Saturday, on the only occasion I think he was really able to.

As you can see, I’m clutching that particular straw!
