"Several seasons at Villa" is a bit tabloid, he was pretty young! And with a 9 player bench these days, I think he at least merits parking his posterior on one of our padded/heated touchline seats.

I still think he'll make the grade. Maatsen was weirdly bad last night and Jaden often had 2-3 players around him with nowhere to go. He is a physically strong player I am sure, but confess he looked the opposite last night. Agree he has only had one good game so far.

I thought  maatsen was goid first half dunny enough. Not sure what happened 2nd as he wasnt at his best. Jaden and buendia though were bad the whole game

Someone’s really trying to get a toilet punathon going. I’ve flushed you out.

Still flushing me out percy after that 2nd piss poor performance in a week?

Relax man. I only posted it because you said dunny. And yes, I realise it’s a typo. That’s how most of the punathons start. You’ve been on here long enough to know that surely?

I think the main problem isn’t just that he’s stepping up from the championship; he’s stepping up to play for a team in the champions league who finished 4th last season and is effectively replacing a French international in Diaby.

The fact he looks way off it right now is more of a reflection on the recruitment team and our FFP woes that he’s been put into that position in the first place.

Rodgers base fee without add one was lower that Philogene’s I believe so that one has worked well. But considering that he’s signed to be an immediate viable alternative to Bailey  on the right (which he surely must be, otherwise it’s a failure on the recruitment side going into the season) is less on the player here I think.

Rogers was obviously very good business.
If Philogene is in as a direct replacment for Bailey, I'd say that he's more than matched him at the moment!

... not a great compliment.

I was chatting with a Hull supporter last night. He watches a lot of football, if Hull hasn't got a game he will watch someone else, goes to the Euros and watches alot of International football too. Now, be that as it may, he might be as clueless as the rest of us.....

However, his opinion of Philogene was that he sees him as being an England regular in the future, would love it if we loaned him back to them and thinks, from what he's seen of his performances with us that the shackles need to come off a bit. The discussion we had was akin to Grealish going to Moneychester C and being stifled because of the system, rather than being allowed to relax and just play.

He needs to loosen up and actually attack like he means it. Stop being timid young man and comit your opponent. Same with Bailey in fact. See they delicious cross for Watkins at Ipswich, do more. Play the percentages.

I'd like to see them cut some slack to go for it, but I'm not sure Emery wants them to. I just don't know how the crowd would react if they lost it repeatedly though. And I think that's what would happen, certainly at first.

Perhaps, but Bailey checking back sees him lose it and use lose a crossing opportunity.

It would help if supported more consistently by Cash rather than a centre half out of position, but injuries seem to confound this.

Yep, we're solid at the back, but less of a threat going forward.

To be honest we just don't seem to like crossing the ball unless it's Digne on the ball.

Solid at the back?! Which team are you watching out of interest?

I meant more solid (and cautious) having Konsa there, rather than a fullback bombing on.

We would be a lot more solid at full back if we had one comfortable bombing on with the ball.

Also konsa did a very good run from waht i remember vs liverpool but then failed to pass it ans lost the ball

On the Hull riff, I seem to recall he mostly played on the left there, cutting in and striking on goal with his right.
