Anyone would think Villa Park had never exceeded 42000 before. I grew up with crowds of up to 60000 at Villa Park. I don’t recall much chaos outside. People are very precious these days.

Far fewer cars in those days both residents and supporters. Many fans live further afield. We need some effective park and ride options. Can't be that difficult - there were several in Nottingham when I lived there

I think it's disappointing compared to what they originally planned.

No brickwork?

Just looks cheap imo.

Back then there were less cars, more buses and trams, and a lot more people living in walking distance of the ground.

Also the acceptance that heaving terraces and fences or narrow passages was "one of those things".

The existing external walls of the stand are still there - just covered with external staircases and advertising hoardings by the looks of things.

There's also a difference between 50k 20+ plus times every season and getting 50-60k every now and again.

Ironically, the North Stand would probably have more chance of being listed than the old Trinity.

BBC reporting it. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/cn91e9yxd95o

Don't worry, they still managed to squeeze a Man Utd mention into the article.

Do we have three articles including a live blog and reactions?

The only video I've found so far is on Facebook, I assume a better format will be out soon.

There is a video on the main AVFC page just below the first two paragraphs.

Yes I agree on the brickwork, I like a good bit of red brick.

Still, at least it’s something.

I know from personal experience it’s been possible to buy GA tickets for every single game in all competitions at Villa Park this season.

So if they try to expand the GA+ offering it will need to be attractive and compelling.

So my guess would be vast majority of seats will be GA whether season tickets or buy per match.

I suspect that added capacity for GA Season Tickets in the Upper North might bring about the long expected gentrification of the sections behind the dugouts.

People were skinnier due to rationing, too, so you could get more in.
