Just looked up the new end capacity at Anfield which is 16000. This change gets North Stand to 13,000 , same as Holte and Trinity. By comparison plops main stand is 20,600. I just don't see how we will get to 60,000 on the current site and that's what I think we should be aiming for.
Yuck! I'm not sitting there. 🤢
Dunno if anyone's mentioned, but those drawings are from a Grimshaw Jan 23 proposal.
If it went wider you'd potentially have problems with the roof of the trinity/DE.
Well, I like those plans. Along with the seat reconfiguration it should take us up to around 50k capacity, which was pretty much what Purslow's plan entailed, but will cost less and not involve us playing in the middle of a building site for 2 years, including our 150th anniversary season and first European Cup campaign in over 40 years. Villa Live has been replaced with the Warehouse. It seems to me that we're doing exactly what we were going to do, just in a more efficient & cost-effective way. Whilst I imagine the ticket prices for the North Stand will go up, I'd expect it'll be by far less than if it was a completely new build stand.I think importantly, the ground keeps a lot of it's character. I don't want us playing in some soulless bowl. I want other club's supporters to come to our ground, and leave wishing their's was 10% of what our's is. As for 60k capacity, I don't think we need that in the immediate future. Around 50,000 takes us to the 5th biggest stadium outside of London (behind the 2 Manchester sides, Liverpool, and Newcastle -- but we'd be a comparable size to 115/Geordie Arabia and the other two have been considerably more successful than us during anyone's living memory). Longer term, we could look at filling in the corners at the North Stand end, or rebuilding/remodelling the Witton Lane Stand.

I'm a bit puzzled by people saying they like the plans posted, there doesn't look like enough in the way of detail to form a view one way or another.

I think people are just keen to cling on to any “positive” news about the future for all the reasons postulated.
