The ratio of twice as many men on the mural as women could be construed as reflective of the popularity of of the respective teams. Or I could  be overthinking this.

It looks fine to me and inclusive of those who will attend VP to watch football regardless of how many and what sex they are. It might not be a big deal to me, and others but it's a big deal to them.
Yep, nail on the head for me.  All I know is that my little girl will absolutely love that mural when she sees it.

If that was the case the ratio would have been more like 20:1.

I think it looks awesome, and great to see Rachel Daly on it, too!

I walk past there on the way out of every game so it's great to see it being made even more Villa.

What a treat for the houses opposite, too!

It won't be open till the season starts, I don't think. The event is at the smaller shop by the Holte End.

I’m in the it looks brilliant camp the way it is. I am a dad of young daughters who I would love to one day make it in whatever professional they end up choosing. It’s great that we are recognizing Rachel Daly as part of this artwork. I don’t really watch our women’s team but I still recognize that it’s important to see their game grow even if it never becomes as popular as the men’s game.

Have to say, I thought 'Daly' was a misprint on here.

Same here, until I realised it looked nothing like Kenza Dali.

I truly believe that the woman's game has improved immeasurably from the laughing stock it used to be and certainly has its place in a modern world. I just dont think it should be shoehorned into the mens game at every opportunity. Surely they could justify having a mural of their own.
It is a version of the same game - it is not the same game unless they compete equally against each other.

On another note my only concern with immortalising current players is that players leave and it will always need updating - i would prefer to honour true legends such as God, Saunders etc as that would be never changing.

What harm does it do having a picture of Rachel Daly on a single wall of the ground?

Is it not fantastic that girls into football can see a picture of a female player to inspire them, just as boys have had always had the men?

But that is my point - have a wall completely dedicated to the womans team, surly the imagery for young women to be inspired would be of the whole team of women being together - no need to incorporate it into the mens stuff

Except by doing that it shows they are separate, and given the way many people view women, and the women's game, as therefore a lesser value.

Including them shows it's not just a man's game.

I think it's a fine line. The women's game isn't as prominent as the men's, isn't as valuable, and doesn't generate as much interest. But it doesn't mean that it won't be, couldn't be, and won't.
