I'm not sure why you'd get offended by them complimenting our goalkeeper.

"Our commentator" - surely the tones of Jonathan Pearce are unmistakeable? He's a windbag but nowt wrong with his comment.

Yeah, Emi's won the last two Yashin awards but I'm more concerned with him making the wrong step away from the side of the goal where PSG got their first and flapping at a shot (which he also did at Monaco leading to their winner) just before. Got beaten at his near post for the second too but I'll let him off as it came at him at 120 mph and Disasi was made look like a bigger div.

The first goal was down to Rogers standing and admiring Doue instead of getting stuck in .

Glad to hear Emi getting recognition, it’s not always the case.
Hope he’s set up well for Tuesday and this result will have helped. Clean Sheet!

Honestly, baffling.

Not offended at all. I agree. It’s just that I’ve heard so many discussions about ‘the best in the world’ wherein he hasn’t had a mention. I watched it dozing off at about 3am so I wasn’t sure if I’d remembered it right.

Not sure why people have read so much into my question.

I was replying to Hookey's angry response to your question, not the question itself.

I agree with you, and thought it was nice to hear a commentator say so. I also think the Liverpool and Arsenal goalkeepers are very good, and don't watch European football enough to know if there are other contenders.

Based on the matches I've seen this season at Villa Park, the Ipswich goalkeeper is the best in the world, but I'm assuming that's atypical or... he wouldn't be playing for Ipswich.

More than happy to have a goalkeeper who is in the conversation, anyway.

I think it was more what Hookey said wasn’t it?

My point is / was  the comment of best in the world is used often by commentators when it's about Alison or Edison

With our guy, its not just punditry opinions, there are actually attained awards for being the best in the world so I am surprised it is not mentioned as more matter of fact.

Not having a go at you, Hookey, but I don't know why anybody would take notice of anything commentators say.

Commentators think non-Liverpool supporting English fans were happy they won the Champions League in 2005 or that we are all delighted that Newcastle won the League Cup.

If ever I find myself agreeing with a commentator, I re-evaluate my opinion on the assumption I got something wrong.

I've just been talking to all the commentators and they were telling me how much they really like Rory.
