It's great to see two women presenting, but do they have to be duaghters of famous international footballers? Is that a pre-requisite?

It's more or less how they got their break I imagine but they are good at what they do.

They are indeed.

I feel a bit churlish with that as I have no issue with, and indeed want to see more of women in these areas of sport, just sick of finding out that every bloody face I see on the telly is the son or daughter of someone that was already famous.

You'll change your tune when your boy's all over the Daily Express with his campsite empire. "I owe it all to my father, LeeB, who was famously often agreed with on the internet", the fibreglass titan remarked.

New presenters confirmed. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/ce9nzxe4m18o

Great, I’m glad they have kept Mark Chapman and I like Gabby Logan and Kelly Cates.
Lineker to stay for the FA Cup and other cups is also a great use of talent if he can’t stay at MOTD for whatever reason.

That the BBC need to even mention it in their article is disappointing. It doesn't matter if they are the best for the job. Stating it suggests they wouldn't have got the job otherwise, or feels at least like an explanation of the reason for them getting the gig.

I read it as nostalgia really, "I grew up watching my dad on it and now I get to be a host!".

Very good choices - but why have they kept the talentless hyena that is Richards.

I have no idea what he actually brings to anything he is involved in.

(Wipes a little sick off his lips) i actually think Troy Deeney is head and shoulders above him as a pundit

Cates is good. Chapman and Logan are a bit...try-hard. Chapman likes to have the last word, even if he's gently being ribbed. He also has a tendency to hone in on a layman's clichéd observation "So, by committing to that low block, it nullifies everything going forward, doesn't it?".
I'll also miss Lineker's closing puns although he wasn't the best listener, often eager to get his next question in before the pundit had expanded on his point.

Possibly, unless Kelly Cates was also a Rose of Tralee contestant. https://youtu.be/V3k8knb2eb8

Could be worse, it could be Roman Kemp.

An acceptable running order tonight -
1st Bournemouth (hoping big AL is on to follow up his title claims midweek)
2nd Brentford
3rd Villa
Then others

Up second, thought we'd be third. Surprised Newcastle v Bournemouth isn't first.

Haha Lineker and Murphy gutted to concede it's handball . The other pundit , Williams ? absolutely thick as mince tonight in his analysis.

Disgraceful. Arsenal Arsenal Arsenal were they playing themselves or indeed was there another team. According to both Sky and BBC Villa were invisible.
Danny Murphy always looks like he needs a wash. Adds nothing and Williams just dense. I would be happy without pundits. Just show me the games. I don’t need to be told what I’ve just watched.

Who were Arsenal playing? Did they stop for a rest three times to let that other team they were playing score two goals and hit the post? Commentator biased. Heartbreaking for them that it was a hand ball.
