Wood won’t take the field today, he’s got got a thigh injury. The other four bowlers should have enough between them to take the remaining Sri Lankan wickets in the first hour or so and for once let’s hope their tail doesn’t wag.

Not quite gone to plan so far :-(

What a knock by Mendis (and Chandimal). If this keeps going for 50 odd more runs I think it gets interesting. Jayasuria in the last innings is going to be a real challenge.

Fair play to Gus Atkinson, it's taken him just two tests at Lord's to get on all three honours boards!

They get plenty of opportunites at that particular venue, the over-privileged London twats!!

Root’s century output over the last few years is just nuts. He’s a proper all timer.

Yeah - we'll done to Gus - but its a shame the home tests this summer haven't been the most competitive - only really the odd day when it looks like a competitive match would break out.

The Eng, Aus and India should make money available to some of the other test playing nations to help them develop as its in the interest in the test cricket

It’s a shame with these Sri Lanka tests that SL haven’t shown the same grit in the first innings that they have in the second.

Yes, more competitive tests are better.

At least we've 'discovered' a fine cricketer in Atkinson. It was good to see Stoney back in action.

Hopefully, the selectors will realise their error in picking Lawrence who is not a Test-class batsman.

Not convinced on that. I like Lawrence, he’s not an opener but when he’s had the chance in his real position he’s done ok.

Interesting reading about the low attendances. That’s a real concern and the ECB need to really think about, and actually the wider game. There is too much cricket and it’s badly diluting the quality. Touring teams, particularly outside of the big three, just have no chance.

I think having test matches in England and Wales in September doesn't help!!   Still, The Hundred was great this year wasn't it?  I mean that's what's really important here, isn't it? I really liked the bit when all those fireworks were going off when the players came out wearing crisp sponsorship logos.  Top quality stuff!.

£95 quid was the cheapest adult ticket for day 4. Against a team that, no disrespect, aren't a great draw. I agree about the amount of cricket, but it also needs to be priced semi realistically too.

Well yeah it’s a combo of things - also Lords shouldn’t have a third of the Tests in a summer.

I think they gambled on the test not lasting much beyond day three and it backfired on them.

I went on Saturday which was a sellout and Lords was buzzing, they deal with their capacity crowds really well which is more than can be said for St John’s Wood tube station which was dangerously overcrowded at around 5.30pm.
