The filthy rich who live in this country pay a lot more in tax than most will ever do!

I'm surprised you have any hands free to type between doffing your cap and tugging your forelock.

Some people are lucky enough to afford a third hand which can be used to crack one off to the real housewives of Hampstead.
My mate had a Ferrari (not new not old) he's not short of cash obviously but not loaded either , first service was £17k - exhaust manifold issue , he quickly got shot of that car

What a surprise. Tim, who regularly exposes himself as being as thick as a submarine door, is right-wing.

I was on the way to diffusing things with my charming personality there, Perce!

Then in you rush like Wolfie Smith on crack. You're a liability 😉

Wolfie on crack is right. I just noticed I answered the wrong post. My assessment still stands though.

The filthy rich just take, they don't give. Let them fuck off.
The top 1% by income pay 29% of all income tax. Some rich folks are giving plenty and not getting much gratitude it seems.

The top 1% hold more wealth than 70% of Brits combined. They’re doing ok.

I’d also wager, with some certainty, that the majority of the super wealthy aren’t anywhere near the top of the wage earners/tax payers list, due to minimisation strategies.

People in jobs with high paying salaries (above 160k pounds p/a to be in the top 1%). As opposed to the super wealthy and their webs of companies, trusts, deductions etc.

Those people will not be UK residents , because it is very difficult to avoid paying large amounts of  tax legally if you are a wealthy UK resident.
That is why over 9000 HNW individuals left the UK last year.

One for the accountants - why can there not just be a flat rate 25% income tax for everyone, regardless of income?

Would that not help in tax avoidance by the super rich and help offset the cost of living for most people, while still filling the government coffers?

I don’t think you need to be an accountant to answer this, but a fair and easy tax rate often leads to a higher tax take when the opposite has the opposite effect..
But this subject should probably be in off topic.

Not sure why the mega rich are hated so much unless it is purely based on political ideology.

I would assume (I am sure i will be told i am wrong if i am) that most of us on here are employed by medium to larger corporations who are ultimately owned by these big mega rich super companies.

The larger the company the more people they usually employ. The family that used to own my company used to make regulary $360+ million per year worldwide and each family member had bonuses around the $5-7M.

And they and every employee were tax payers as well in their respective countries of residence.

That might seem obscene but they employed 22000 people worldwide and their business performances kept me employed for 25 years - so i do not begrudge them anything

Because a huge amount of that wealth is earned by other peoples work. People like that are paid more money than they could ever possibly need to live even the most lavish lifestyle but they don't like having to pay their staff a living wage, they don't like having to pay tax to fund the infrastructure that their business relies on, or pays for the healthcare, education, etc that is needed for them to find and retain staff.

I have no idea who you worked for or what they're like as people or how well paid the lowest earners there were but if they were doing the right thing by all of their staff then they're very much in the minority.

Also it not so much that they're hated, it's that the entire economy has spend 40 odd years pandering to them, allowing them to increase their wealth to ridiculous levels and then as soon as anyone tries small changes to tip things a little back towards balance they lose their shit, threaten to leave the country and act like they're always first to bear the brunt of everything. They've basically regressed to toddlers who want every toy and if they can't have them then they'd rather destroy everything than let anyone else play with them.

Over the past 25 years we have gone from local multi millionaires owning Villa to global multi billionaires owning the Villa. yet, for some reason, the wealthier our owners have become, the less inclined they are to carry our significant infrastructure work on Villa Park. It's still in the shape it was when a local millionaire owned the club.

That's capitalism, stupid.

Better than the alternative.

Yeah, I know, it's almost as if I think capitalism has got out of control and is causing problems, leading to things like a massive rise in xenophobia, a huge drop in birth rates, whole generations that can't afford to buy their own home and many other social problems.

but you carry on defending the poor bullied billionaires and work on doffing that cap.
