I think one of the issues the Birmingham Council would have giving the go ahead for a city centre stadium would be the negative response they would receive from the local traders. For all the positives of attracting 60,000 football fans every other week, local businesses would suffer on match days and probably drive away most of the business they would normally do.

I will point you to Westfield next to West Ham on matchday, which was absolutely heaving when we went in August.
City centre traders would be rubbing their hands at a regular 60k plus footfall appearing out of nowhere.

Ha you beat me to it was about to say that  exact same thing. I deliberately avoid Stratford when west ham are at home as its so busy.

I think all talk of us moving to the city centre or near are pretty pointless. I cannot think of any land that would be suitable. Personally I think we will go about trying to buy up properties around the stadium and maybe purchase some land at the very far end of Aston park but that wouldn't be much as it would impinge on Aston Hall. Basically we're pretty much penned in and there's no suitable land in the central area of the city. Quite the conundrum. A stadium near the NEC would be about as popular as a fortnight at Brean Sands Pontins.

Not of the amount of $1.8b. He has fingers in several pies so something either crashed or he's investing again. Wes wealth has grown since he purchased us though...approx a $1.6B increase over the past 6 years.
