I know of A-Rod, but I'm just curious as to why he's a cock? I only know of him vaguely, but has his behaviour in the past indicated he's a bit of a dick?

12 people were charged, including A-Rod.   He's the only one that appealed knowing that would allow him to play out this season - presumably for selfish reasons and I think that's why he labeled him as a dick.   All the others waived their right to appeal and took a lesser suspension and will be back for next season or the playoffs.

Correct, despite the evidence he continues to plead innocence... if you have made a mistake and been caught hold your hands up, don't wait until you retire as that only hurts the game.

Yep, A-Rod's behavior has easily justified him being called a cock / dick

I saw a run scored on an attempted intentional walk that became a wild pitch on the first game I went to. How common or uncommon is it? (Royals at Cubs, July 2001 since you're asking)

Wild pitches during an intentional walk do occur every now and again. Pitchers aren't used to throwing deliberately wide, so sometimes they over do it.


I was at a game in Alrlington (Texas Rangers) back in 2000 that looked like it had ended on a walk-off balk. The winners were celebrating and people were starting to leave when the Umpires huddled and decided to reverse the call. After the on-field arguments had died down, the game went 13 innings. I was due to be on the post-game radio show and was eventually interviewed at 1am
